RTO smart card: benefits and method to apply

India’s transport system is improving day by day and transforming into digitalization. Tension to keep fragile documents save have gone now. today the smart card has become new standard. secure and smart. Smart card is a chip based plastic card that replaces the traditional paper based driving license (DL) or RC registration certificate. It is easy to carry, read and verify.

How to apply

online application for DL or RC visit the official government portal parivahan.gov.in

  • Chose service related to driving license or vehicle registration
  • select state
  • fill the online form
  • upload documents
  • pay the required fees.

Offline application ( via RTO office)

  • visit your local RTO
  • collect and fill the required form (form 2 for DL , relevant RC form)
  • submit ID proof, address and existing DL/RC (if any you have already)
  • pay the required fees
  • complete biometric and photograph verification

FEES

  • smart DL card 200-300 ( it can be vary by state)
  • smart RC card 250-400 (depend on vehicle and region)

It will take usually 7 to 15 working days to deliver.

Smart card is actually a registration certificate (RC) 
RTO has issued RC in the form of smart card. There is a microchip on smart card which keeps essential information regarding the vehicle. It is more safe and easy to keep instead of old RC document.
Infact smart card is a digital version of RC.
